Digital solutions for factories of the future
Digitalisation met manufacturing – what happened? Top-class research, forerunner factories and IoT solution providers created innovative solutions to revolutionize the competitiveness of the Finnish manufacturing industry. This is a map of the factory of the future: explore our proof of concepts from the factory floor to the whole production network!
Reboot IoT Factory
Reboot IoT Factory offers a unique opportunity to be a part of the next generation of Industry 4.0 and beyond. We bring together forerunner factories, IoT solution providers and top-class research organizations to revolutionize the competitiveness of Finnish manufacturing industry.
The Reboot operative model is based on agile co-creation and experience sharing within real-world production environments. Each forerunner factory commits as a research and development platform for proof-of-concept experiments, which combine technology research and factory digitalization needs. Productization of these proof-of-concepts with forerunner factories as reference customers represents new domestic and export-driven business opportunities for IoT solution providers. Business impact for forerunner factories comes through the adoption of tailored IoT solutions and shared best practices, resulting in major advancements in the respective digitalization strategies.
The Reboot ecosystem and the associated operative model are in full motion, with eight forerunner factories and four leading research organizations on board. Special operative focus is given to the scaling of IoT solutions, as well as to EU level expansion.
Become a member of our pool of expertise providers
We are looking for small and medium sized Finnish IoT solution providers to work with forerunner factories. Our networked collaboration enables fast competence sharing and maximizes growth potential for all participating companies. We are looking for dedicated professionals willing to commit to comprehensive IoT solution development. Our forerunner factories are ABB Vaasa, ABB Porvoo, Nokia, GE Healthcare, Ponsse, KONGSBERG, Scanfil and Sulzer. Reboot IoT Factory is coordinated by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, University of Oulu, Åbo Akademi and Aalto University.
Industry grand challenges that we are solving:
Labor at digital
Benefits of our model
To IoT solution providers
Increased sales via subcontracting as your company will be delivering solutions based on co-creation
Customer references from forerunner factories
New opportunities based on exposure within the Reboot ecosystem
To forerunner factories
Facilitated progress in digitalization strategy implementation
Business impact from adopted IoT solutions provided by Finnish SMEs
Ongoing dialogue with top-class research
Currently, the following sites of these major industrial operators are acting as forerunner factories in Reboot IoT Finland:
- ABB Protection & Connection-Vaasa
- ABB Wiring Accessories-Porvoo
- GE Healthcare-Helsinki
These factories offer their premises as development and innovation platforms as well as forums for experience sharing. They are all willing to learn, try and tailor IoT solutions. After the piloting phase, the viable solutions are then scaled up.
Research organizations produce new scientific knowledge, which IoT solution providers can package as proof-of-concepts in order to test and validate against needs of the factories..
Our research partners include
- University of Oulu
- VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland
- Åbo Akademi
- Aalto University
